Hello everyone,
I recently heard about the new generation of the Kallax shelving unit and am wondering if anyone here has any experience with it?
I am particularly interested in whether you have noticed any significant differences compared to previous versions—whether in terms of stability, workmanship, or design.
Are there real improvements, or is it just marketing?
Also, how compatible are the accessories with older Kallax models?
Looking forward to an active exchange!

That’s why I would like to know if anyone has long-term experienceI don’t have long-term experience with the new Kallax yet, but I do with the old one.
The old models have easily lasted 7-8 years with me, despite moves.
If the new one is built similarly, I have no concerns.
Hello everyone,
I would like to provide a brief overview from my perspective:
1. Material & Stability: According to IKEA, the new generation uses slight changes in the material composition, which reduces weight somewhat without decreasing stability.
2. Finish: The surfaces are sanded more finely, resulting in a smoother feel.
3. Compatibility: The hole spacing for accessories remains the same, so you can continue using older cubes or doors.
4. Practical Tip: Pay close attention to the exact screw tightness during assembly, as this significantly affects stability.
I hope this helps you a bit!

The weight is indeed lower, but I haven't noticed any stability issues.Thank you for the feedback! That really reassures me. When something is lighter, I always worry right away that the quality might suffer. It's good to hear that this isn't the case. I think I'll go for it too 🙂

I remain skeptical without concrete test data, but it is good that there are no visible deteriorations. It would be helpful if IKEA communicated such information more clearly to avoid exactly these kinds of uncertainties.
