Hello dear forum,

Our new build is now nearing completion.
Since the tax return is coming up soon, I wanted to ask if expenses related to the house construction can be deducted for tax purposes.

Here are the main points:
- House is for personal use only – no rental
- Financing partly from equity, partly through a building savings contract combined with an annuity loan
- Construction started in 06/2019, expected completion in 06/2020

Many thanks in advance!

No. Everything from completion onwards, yes. Until then, no.

No, there is no possibility. I have tried it myself. From the time of moving in, things like photovoltaic systems, carports, etc. are allowed.

You can account for labor up to the maximum value starting from the move-in date.

Move-in date = change of address?

It is not necessary to have already moved in. It is sufficient if the house is livable. From that point, contractor services can be claimed as tax-deductible.
