Hello everyone,

I am currently planning to build a new bungalow using a timber frame construction. Regarding the roof, I am trying to figure out the most cost-effective option. One possibility is concrete tiles, and another is sandwich panels. With concrete tiles, I save a lot on the roofing material itself, but I still need to add a membrane, battens, insulation, and a roof structure designed to be weather-tight and load-bearing. Sandwich panels made of metal are quite expensive as materials, but the insulation is already built in as foam. Additionally, thick sandwich panels have a high load capacity, so the roof structure can be kept relatively simple, for example without rafters—just purlins to support the panels. Can anyone roughly estimate which option would ultimately be more economical?

Best regards,
Marian
