Hello everyone!

When I look at the new collection of box spring beds, it seems that I don’t necessarily have to choose a headboard, right? Of course, IKEA primarily offers the beds as complete sets, but if I understand the assembly instructions correctly, there are only two versions of the box spring bed itself – and both stand on their own. Mattresses are placed on top, and a headboard is attached from the back. The box spring bed and mattress then just get the cover that matches the headboard – that’s it.

As far as I can tell, you could theoretically leave out the headboard entirely – right? The reason is that I would like to have a custom headboard made and place a box spring bed without a headboard in front of it.

I’m not 100% sure, but with the new models, the headboards don’t have a separate item number. This means you might only be able to purchase the entire bed, regardless of how it is assembled. It was different with the old ones. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

So, I was at IKEA during the week – the price tags on the beds show all prices individually. Therefore, I would assume that I don’t necessarily have to buy the headboard.
