Hello everyone,

I am currently thinking about the shading for my 5x5m (16x16 ft) wooden deck, which will be used as an outdoor dining area. Normally, I would have installed a louvered roof without hesitation. Until I saw this:

Wooden terrace in the garden with several trees and a shady leaf canopy, open outdoor area.

Is such natural shading practical? The distance between the crab apple trees is exactly 5m (16 ft), which matches our dimensions perfectly. Which plants are suitable for this? Preferably not ones that attract a lot of insects...

Ideally, spring is best. Most likely, mid to late April is perfect. Also, September to October works well. I’m not sure what the temperatures are like where you are, but for us, it is still quite possible now, with daytime temperatures mostly still in the double digits.

How can you seal a distribution box that is going to be buried in the ground?
The landscapers say it should be cast with resin, but then I would never be able to access it again if I need to rewire something.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Wrap the foil around and then seal it?

No, that won’t work. Due to the moisture inside the box, it will start to sweat and condensate. I can well imagine using a heat shrink tube.

Why not use a box suitable for underground installation? For example, the well-known universal coupling.

Black plastic cylinder with yellow end piece and white hose.

Or this one:

Electrical installation kit with metal box, bracket, and connections for building technology

Maybe we are allowed to mention a name: Friedl. They are reasonably priced and provide a reliable seal in soil (personal experience). Available in various sizes.
