Hello roof experts,
is there a specific name for this silver-gray rail/strip/gutter/thing that can be seen in the photo here between the roof tiles of the main roof and the bay roof?
And related to that: Is it normal for it to be this wide and prominent, or could it be made less noticeable somehow (for example, painted black)?

This is the roof valley, or rather the flashing. The width is necessary to direct the water away. It usually looks like this, and if you don’t like it, remember: you get used to it 😉
Furthermore, the red color you see is definitely not rust but the dust from the cut roof tiles, which will wash away and look better.
