ᐅ Nail baseboards in place or use mounting clips?

Originally, we planned to nail the baseboards in place, preferably using a nail gun.

Now everyone is talking about these clip-on baseboards. Until now, we didn’t even know such a system existed. But the only real advantage of the clips seems to be that you don’t see any nails, and you can remove the baseboards without damage and reuse them, right?

And all these clip brackets have to be fixed to the wall with some kind of anchors, which I find quite expensive.

Do you also think this is overrated, or are the clips a genuine “hidden gem”? 🙂

My dad is really into hot glue guns. I haven't tried it myself yet. So far, I have been attaching the clips with screws.

For those wondering why there are hyphens in the word, the forum software automatically changed it after posting.

Certainly, but then I would definitely use adhesive

Because it would be invisible or why?
Which adhesive would you recommend for that?

There are special products for that.
Take a look at mapei Supercrip. Definitely choose something reliable, not the cheapest option.

I attached our moldings with a hot glue gun; they hold well but can also be easily removed if desired.

Apart from that, the screed only settles very slightly—otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to lay tiles.
