Hello everyone,
I am still undecided whether we should go for a traditional rafter roof structure or a nail plate truss. The base area is 10m x 9.5m (33ft x 31ft), with a gable roof.

Advantage of traditional rafters:
- more space

Advantage of nail plate trusses:
- cheaper
- no impact on walls in the upper floor

Can anyone share their experience with nail plate trusses?

The attic will be used for the ventilation system as well as storage of miscellaneous items.

Hello hegi,
You have basically summarized it quite well yourself. I have a roof with nailed trusses. It creaks quite loudly with temperature changes (heating, sunlight exposure, cooling). Otherwise, the choice should be made based on usage and budget. My preference is for conventional construction, which is not called that for no reason.

Can you still store things up there? I mean, the dimensions of the items are usually limited by the access hatch. Whether I would then have to lift the items through the trusses would be relatively unimportant to me.
Could you show a picture of the attic?
