Hello everyone,
especially those who have installed external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).
We have installed a 16 cm (6.3 inches) thick ETICS on a 20 cm (8 inches) thick calcium silicate brick wall. I’m wondering about the best way to attach exterior fixtures like outdoor lights and house numbers to these external walls. In my opinion, the advantage of using insulation anchors is that the cables are less likely to be drilled through, since their typically horizontal routing is visible. But how reliable is this method in terms of stability?
With anchors and screws that are quite long (>16 cm (6.3 inches), about 20 cm (8 inches)), I’m more concerned about accidentally hitting cables that run inside the actual masonry.
How have you handled this?
Good luck
