We are currently planning the placement of a motion sensor for our new build. The house is 11m (36 feet) wide and is located 3m (10 feet) from the street. Outdoor lights on both sides of the front door, which is centered on the house, should be activated by the motion sensor. The detection area should cover only the 3m by 11m (10 feet by 36 feet) space in front of the house, as I do not want the lights to turn on every time a car drives by. Where should the motion sensor be installed? Centered above the door on the exterior wall, or under the eaves? What type of motion sensor would be suitable?

But the lens tilt of the Gira Tectiv can also be adjusted mechanically.

Unfortunately, that is not enough to reduce the detection range to 3m (10 feet). The Steinel SensIQS is advertised with a range of 2m to 20m (6.5 to 65 feet), so I’m curious to see how it performs...

Hi,

I’m also curious. I have always had at least good experiences with products from Steinel.

The device you mentioned includes temperature-compensated components. The sensor is certainly very, very good as well.

Good luck

Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for the very interesting information here about the Tectiv 220 degrees.
Could someone please tell me the external diameter of the ring that is mounted on the wall or ceiling, where the adjustment options are located underneath?

Thanks in advance and have a great Father’s Day.
