Hello,

It seems that moisture is rising along the base of our exterior wall (the house is only 5 years old). My plan is to apply a bitumen coating on the lower section up to the edge of the paving stones, then coat the visible section of the base with a waterproof slurry before painting it.
Do you have any additional tips or experiences to share?
The dimpled membrane was only installed up to the gravel layer in some places; I probably cut it too deep when laying the paving stones. But isn’t it mainly meant to protect against mechanical damage?
White plastered wall above dark gray base; chipping at the bottom, paved walkway in front

Gray concrete wall at the base with an open gap, gravel and soil between paving stones.

Gray concrete wall with white line; ground of gravel and sand.

No, it is definitely important. Last year, we also had a moisture problem precisely in the area where the dimpled membrane was slightly neglected and the terrace meets the wall.
I would also strongly recommend installing a splash guard. Water cannot properly drain or seep away where the paving meets the house.
