Thorben8113 Aug 2022 21:04Hello everyone,
We bought a newly built single-family house from 2019/2020.
The house is equipped with a Danfoss underfloor heating system and also ventilation (Danfoss Airunit W2).
The underfloor heating system is quite large since we have many rooms (with Danfoss Wireless Icon thermostats). That’s also why there are 2 main controllers.
Unfortunately, after about three months, I can no longer connect to the annoying Danfoss display/Wi-Fi unit. It says the password is wrong, but it definitely is NOT wrong.
Now I have read that this Danfoss Link CC series has been discontinued, and you are supposed to purchase the Danfoss Ally gateways instead (which I have now done). The Danfoss Ally app now tells me I also need to buy a Zigbee gateway and connect it to the main controllers.
Okay, my questions:
1.) Is it really possible that these main controllers do not already have Zigbee? How does my underfloor heating communicate with the individual wireless thermostats in each room? I found a “Repeater Unit” next to the Danfoss system. What exactly is it repeating? Some proprietary radio signal that is not Zigbee?!
2.) I have two controllers for the rooms. Does that mean I have to buy TWO Zigbee gateways?
3.) What role does the Airunit play? Does it communicate with the underfloor heating somehow? There is a small device plugged into the unit with a big round circle. WHAT IS THAT?
4.) Can the newer Ally gateways actually be integrated into a smart home system? Alexa and Google apparently can, but I would prefer HomeKit, Homebridge, etc.
5.) What is this device in the photo with the missing rotary switch??
Sorry if my questions are silly and the text is too long 🙁 I really appreciate any HELP 🙂
