Hello,
we are looking for a mirrored cabinet that suits our needs.
What should we consider?
How wide should the mirrored cabinet be? As wide as the sink or wider?
How high should the mirrored cabinet be? We can only install the bottom edge of the mirrored cabinet at 150cm (59 inches) because we have a plinth at 120cm (47 inches) where the sink is mounted, and under the mirrored cabinet on the plinth there is still space to place items.
We have Laufen VAL 75 (bathroom) and Laufen Pro S 45 (toilet). A mirrored cabinet should be installed above both sinks.
Which vanity cabinet would you recommend? The vanity should definitely have a black handle or be handleless (push-to-close), as we have black faucets from Grohe.
So far, we have found the following brands:
Badselekt
Sanipa
The original Laufen does not have black handles.

What does it look like if there is air behind the tall cabinet (at least at the top) because of the plinthIdeally, you would choose a cabinet that is no taller than 120 cm (47 inches).Maybe you should share the floor plan of your bathroom showing all fixed elements.

FrankChief27 Feb 2023 13:08We have now decided to mount the bottom edge of the mirror cabinet at 135-140 cm (53-55 inches) – we will decide the remaining 5 cm (2 inches) spontaneously when hanging it. This should still fit us well.
When we stand at the washbasin, the bottom edge will be at least at the lower chest level, more likely around mid-abdomen, which should be sufficient in the bathroom.
So you think we can replace the handles on the Laufen Base base cabinets? Or should we look for an alternative cabinet, for example from Sanipa, which comes directly with black handles (although these are somewhat more expensive than the original Laufen)?

FrankChief1 Mar 2023 09:06Yes, I think 1.40 meters (4 ft 7 in) will work well for us.
Then we still have about 20 cm (8 inches) to place items on the base.
The handles of the Laufen Base base cabinets can be unscrewed but, according to the manufacturer, only original handles can be used as replacements.
Do you think we will be able to find replacement handles?

according to the manufacturer, only original handles can be usedSure, first, you need to install a rootkit on the handles and then upload hacked firmware from the dark web. Only then can you screw them onto the cabinet.
I can be overly cautious and overthink things sometimes too, but you’re really making it complicated.
As I said, you can also just paint the original handles, preferably with spray paint. You won’t even notice it. My wife did that with lamps and door fittings (she also doesn’t like silver but prefers black or gold).
It looks good. Sand and prime beforehand, and then it lasts a while without needing frequent touch-ups.

FrankChief1 Mar 2023 12:14@Tolentino You’re right, I’m probably being too cautious.
I find it hard to believe that I could do this with a spray bottle in a way that leaves no visible marks, so completely without any noticeable transitions.
I just thought the manufacturer might have created a special custom size for the thickness or hole spacing to prevent fitting other handles, so that you always have to buy the original handles.
