ᐅ What to consider when choosing a mirrored cabinet and a vanity unit?

Hello,
we are looking for a mirrored cabinet that suits our needs.
What should we consider?
How wide should the mirrored cabinet be? As wide as the sink or wider?
How high should the mirrored cabinet be? We can only install the bottom edge of the mirrored cabinet at 150cm (59 inches) because we have a plinth at 120cm (47 inches) where the sink is mounted, and under the mirrored cabinet on the plinth there is still space to place items.
We have Laufen VAL 75 (bathroom) and Laufen Pro S 45 (toilet). A mirrored cabinet should be installed above both sinks.
Which vanity cabinet would you recommend? The vanity should definitely have a black handle or be handleless (push-to-close), as we have black faucets from Grohe.
So far, we have found the following brands:
Badselekt
Sanipa
The original Laufen does not have black handles.

Take a look at some pictures of bathrooms with mirrored cabinets and decide which you prefer. Usually, the cabinet is as wide as the base cabinet. Sometimes it’s narrower. Wider doesn’t make sense, since you don’t stand next to the sink but in front of it when looking in. Actually, if you’re nearsighted and putting on eye makeup, it can make a difference.

The bottom edge of the mirrored cabinet should maybe be adjusted based on the user’s height. 150 cm (59 inches) would be a bit high even for me at 180 cm (71 inches) tall. You can barely see your face at that height.
I would probably start the mirrored cabinet at the height of the wall cladding, around 120 cm (47 inches), or plan for an integrated cabinet accordingly right from the start. That’s how we did it too. However, we don’t have a mirrored cabinet (I find them somewhat old-fashioned), but a mirror placed directly above the wall cladding. Higher would be problematic as well—depending on the person’s height, you’d only see your face and neck, or even less. There are two small baskets on the ledge (one for her, one for him), and the rest is stored in the base cabinet or the mid-height cabinet.

FrankChief23 Feb 2023 20:25We find the mirrored cabinet especially practical because it allows for a lot of storage and doesn't leave items visible everywhere.
Placing the mirrored cabinet directly on the base doesn't look very appealing. It also eliminates shelf space below the cabinet.
I stood in front of the mirror, and 150cm (59 inches) is really quite high.
I would say the bottom edge of the mirrored cabinet should be around 130-140cm (51-55 inches).
At 140cm (55 inches), we can see ourselves in the mirror from about chest height.

And placing the mirror cabinet directly on the base doesn’t look very good visually. Also, you lose shelf space under the mirror cabinet. You really need to set your priorities here. In 90% of cases, there is no alternative to having a mirror above the washbasin, which is necessary for getting ready in the morning. This should have been planned ahead, but I don’t blame you, since as a homeowner you wouldn’t necessarily know the shelf level would be that high.FrankChief schrieb:

Anything higher is practically useless!FrankChief schrieb:
Which washbasin cabinet would you recommend? One that replaces the cabinet behind the mirror.FrankChief schrieb:
The cabinet must definitely have a black handle. That’s something you can paint over or replace.F
FrankChief24 Feb 2023 07:27@ypg It can’t be lower than 120cm (47 inches) because of the baseboard.
But we definitely need the mirror cabinet, otherwise we won’t have any space to put things down.
The bathroom is quite small, and not everything fits inside the vanity cabinet.
What I could imagine is hanging the mirror cabinet just a little higher than the baseboard.
About 125–130cm (49–51 inches), then you can’t place anything underneath, but it won’t look as awkward as if the mirror cabinet is directly on the baseboard.

They can be painted over or replaced. Are you sure they can always be replaced, meaning they are screwed in and not glued, for example?
