For our new build (36.5 cm (14.4 inches) Poroton masonry), we requested several quotes for windows with integrated roller shutters – almost all windows in the house are floor-to-ceiling, and the lintels align with the ceiling level. Some suppliers offer roller shutters with boxes only 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) high even for window heights of 235 cm (92.5 inches). Others say that 30 cm (11.8 inches) boxes are necessary, apparently due to higher insulation requirements.

We would prefer to choose the 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) boxes because we want to keep the window area as large as possible. Would there actually be any reason not to go for these? They need to be insulated separately anyway – or is that not the case?

@guckuck2 The manufacturer must ensure that with the selected slat and the window height, the roller fits into the box.
They do that! By the way, the offered slat is only 37mm (1.5 inches) high.

Alright then! If it fits geometrically and you want to do it, go ahead! However, that wasn’t the original question. You can’t really go wrong.
