Good morning,
unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything using the forum search.
My question is, what should the minimum clearance for a door be when planning the floor plan?
Good luck
Michael

If it’s too tight, in my opinion, it doesn’t look good either. We usually left a clearance of 30-50 cm (12-20 inches). I also find it nicer when the door can open more than 90 degrees.

Absolute minimum requirement: you want to be able to fully open the door. “Fully” in this context means slightly more than 90°, because when the door is open as far as possible, the door handle also needs to be clear of any obstruction. Therefore, behind the door there must be the door thickness plus twice the door handle projection plus a safety margin of 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 inches) to account for trigonometric effects. This measurement is taken from the hinge side, not from the wall opening. The exact figures depend on the specific door and handle combination. In any case, this applies if you really need to calculate as tightly as the situation here suggests.
