Since our solar thermal system is currently bringing me a lot of satisfaction, I would like to continue exploring renewable energy options and would find it helpful to receive information from you about micro wind turbines (I am not mentioning any specific company to avoid violating the forum’s advertising rules) for single-family homes, or to hear about your practical experiences with them. I am still at the very beginning.

As some of you may already know, our two-person single-family home (postal code 045xx) was built only to meet the minimum energy-saving regulations, because we did not understand the requirements, incentives, calculations, etc. for a more energy-efficient house. However, we would now like to explore further steps and currently have more free time than during the building planning phase.

Thanks in advance.

I have to say, that little wind turbine looks quite cute. 😀

Yes, I agree. 🙂 I would have also painted mine colorfully and added some fluttering ribbons. I think, in general, the acceptance of wind turbines in the landscape would increase if they looked nicer and had ribbons or similar fluttering decorations. At least that’s true for me. Those rotors that “cut through the sky” are depressing.

To speed things up, at least with turbines from China, you just need to hire a few Chinese interns. ;-) (This joke works indirectly 🙂 and is definitely not meant disrespectfully. I have great respect for Chinese people, and our Chinese employees have always been top class in every respect.)

I will simply write down a few numbers. 1 kW of photovoltaic (solar) capacity costs around €1000 (or was that the case before the energy crisis) and generates 800–1000 kWh per year, lasting at least 15 years. This applies to balcony systems with 600 watts and larger installations in new buildings. A wind turbine costs between €2000 and €3000 and produces about 500 kWh, but with a service life of less than 10 years. In the small wind turbine forum, there was a report where the cost per kWh was 90 cents, even with significant subsidies, and then the system broke down.
