Hello everyone

Sorry, I’m not sure if this is the right topic area, but I couldn’t find a more suitable section.

We are in the final stages of our building project. The prominently visible stair railing was just installed. Somehow, I’m not happy with the appearance; the weld seams don’t look very neat. What do you think? Am I being too picky? Or is this normal/good workmanship? What would you do?

Thanks for your opinions!

The cutout couldn't have been smaller, right?
Jokes aside, maybe add a larger cutout as well, so it’s easier to assess.

@NatureSys Sorry, I don’t have a better photo right now except for this one. I’m interested in the seam detail in the first picture, which is why I included the close-up.

It’s a bit discolored, but the weld looks good, right?
What bothers you? That only a small part of the brace was welded and not the entire length? That’s not necessary; it’s strong enough as is.

Heat discoloration is common with welding and can be removed. Pickling, grinding, brushing, sandblasting, coating, etc.

The question is, what was agreed upon...

PS:
The scratches bother me more. Did the metalworker forget to have his calming drink before tightening the screws?

Hello,
the weld seams are fine, of course, they could have been polished nicely, but you would have had to arrange that beforehand. However, the scratches and the chipped paint around the screws are not acceptable at all. I hope you did not approve it like this.

Best regards,
Andreas

Thank you, you’ve reassured me a bit! Fortunately, the scratches are just dust, and I will mention the screws.
