Our construction company is charging about 23,000 for the painting work in our planned single-family house with 150 sqm (1,615 sq ft) of living space and a ceiling height of 2.70 m (8 ft 10 in). In the basement, only rough plastering will be done, while in the ground floor and attic, surfaces will be plastered, sanded, covered with textured paint fleece, and painted.
For financial reasons, we will probably have to do it ourselves and plan to use paint fleece instead of wallpaper.
What do you think we should budget for materials? That is, filler, joint tape, corner protectors, primer, paint fleece, and paint? About 10,000?
Thanks for your input. Oh, and how long do you think an amateur would roughly need to complete this? About 4 weeks?

If you can live with the appearance, drywall can also be filled and painted. We don’t use any fleece, but the entire surface is filled at least to level Q3 or better and finely sanded. Don’t forget to embed tape into the joints. Woodchip wallpaper or a textured paint, similar to stucco primer, conceal many imperfections. This would be the fastest way; level Q2 would be sufficient then.
I need to add something to my comment about 4 weeks. I was a bit exaggerating. Four weeks is correct, but only working Wednesday evenings, Saturdays, and Sunday mornings. So that comes to 8 working days. 8 times 8 equals 64, times 2 equals 128, times 50 results in roughly 6000 in labor costs. Then 23 days really is quite a lot.

We spent just under €4000 on materials and tools for painting work. This includes paint, filler (Uniflott), Fermacell adhesive, joint tape, wallpaper paste, corner beads, masking tapes, protective sheeting, painting tools, etc. We used high-quality Keim interior silicate paints. Each floor has about 70m² (750 sq ft) of living space with approximately 2.45m (8 ft) ceiling height. The scope of work was as follows:
- Basement: painting walls and ceilings
- Ground floor: applying fiberglass wallpaper and painting walls; finishing and painting the stairwell with fine plaster
- Upper floor: applying fiberglass wallpaper and painting walls; finishing and painting ceilings with fine plaster
Unfortunately, I don’t have exact surface area measurements.

It also depends on the material. How many square meters of surface area are we talking about? Sure, 150m2 (1600 square feet) of ceilings, but you also have walls inside the house...
When it comes to paint, you can find options from inexpensive to expensive.
I’m currently painting and spraying as well. Based on our paints and primer (no deep primer because of smooth concrete), I’m looking at about 3000 euros for paint alone for 150m2 (1600 square feet) without interior walls.
Here in the South, I would consider that offer rather affordable...

No.
Primer costs significantly more than deep primer. That almost doubles the cost. And it's a tinted premium paint. When spraying, the consumption is slightly higher. The comparison is a bit off since facade paint...
For the rooms inside, I roughly calculate about 2000€ for 150m2 (1600 sq ft).
