Hello to all future or current home builders,

After some initial research, we have basically decided to build using solid prefabricated construction. As I see it, this is a relatively new branch of homebuilding technology.

What criteria would you recommend for selecting providers? Or do you have any tips on which companies are well-regarded in this field?

Thanks, Titus

It's not that new. This type of construction has been around since the 1970s. We also built our house using Rötzer brick element construction. Overall, we were satisfied, aside from the usual minor issues that come with any house build.

Hello,
Oh, we weren’t aware of that.
We have also heard of Rötzner. Do they build solely with bricks, or do they add insulation on the exterior? If there is insulation, what materials can be chosen with them?
One more question: since this construction method has been practiced for quite some time, is there a reason why there aren’t many providers? So far, and we have spent quite a lot of time searching, we only know of Rötzner, Wochner, Baumann, Kastell (although the latter apparently only does “refined shell construction”).
If anyone knows of other names, we would appreciate any tips.

Thanks, Titus

Well, the reason why there aren’t really that many suppliers is quite straightforward. To manufacture walls industrially while keeping costs manageable, three components are necessary.
You need a) the raw material, b) a brickyard, and c) a suitable factory where the wall elements are produced.
Very few suppliers have the necessary resources for this.
You can only inquire about the types of wall options directly from Rötzer Ziegel Element Haus.
For example, we use bricks plus external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS).
