I hope this is the right forum.

We are currently considering installing an electric sliding gate for our property. Unfortunately, I don’t have a clear overview of the manufacturers available, and I’m not even sure what the proper term for it is.

We are looking for a gate that would be installed at the end of the property and slides sideways when you approach it by car. So it would also serve as the entrance to the property.

When I google the keywords from the title, I find a few brands that I’m not familiar with. Are there any “high-quality, well-known” manufacturers here, similar to how Hörmann is known for garage doors, for example? Hörmann does have something like this, but not really for private use unless you’re into industrial design.

I would appreciate it if anyone could name one or more manufacturers.

Thank you very much and best regards
Dany

I’ll throw in CAME FROG24 as an option for, for example, 2 swing gates (I would advise against a sliding gate, as it tends to look more industrial or like a prison).

The manufacturer can probably provide you with partner contacts if you ask (from personal experience, their prices can be outrageously high).

If you have it done professionally, expect around 10,000€ (about 11,000 USD). With some DIY work and a good locksmith to build the gates, you can definitely save money (Came control units are also offered in kits, around 2,000€ (2,200 USD), plus another 2,000–3,000€ (2,200–3,300 USD) for the gates from the locksmith).

Search for Elektro Hückmann or Came Hofuhr; they distribute the control units and are very helpful, providing excellent phone support. They might also be able to recommend a one-stop contractor in your area.

A Google search for “electric gates” also yields many results (including some Polish manufacturers).

By the way, I have a Came control unit with underground motors and two swing gates. Because of the worm gears being greasy, I had to get deeply involved in the installation and ended up replacing 2 circuit boards at about 300€ (330 USD) each within one year. That was my fault; the previous owner had a sloppy installation (the cables to the control box were exposed and the box was mounted too low), and I underestimated the vulnerability of the worm gear motors. Otherwise, I’m very satisfied, and pedestrians can enter through the pedestrian gate.

If both sides are clad with a good drive system, etc., you will end up at just under 10,000 including installation.

I will definitely look into this, but it’s a bit more difficult since I’m new to the area and don’t know anyone yet...

And @barfly666 :
Thank you too for your ideas! I will definitely start there when the time comes, sounds great!

Thanks so much to everyone for the great help!!

Take a walk around the neighborhood and have a look.
Our sliding gate includes a built-in pedestrian gate,
so either the entire gate opens electrically, or just the pedestrian gate can be used.
Someone in the neighborhood had this setup and, when asked, also shared the contact details for the nearby metal workshop/locksmith about 3 meters (2 miles) away, in case something gets stuck or broken.
12.5 meters (41 feet) of fence with a base, 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) gate,
including removal, base, and installation, in 2020 cost was 12,000 euros, Berlin.

A neighbor had a similar setup and shared the contact details of the local metalworking shop / locksmith around the corner (3 km), in case something gets stuck or broken.

Do you happen to have a photo of it and could send me the contact details of the company via private message? It would be interesting for us in Berlin next year as well.

Company contact details sent via private message.
Private message sent with pictures,
and still filler text from the rabble for the authorities.
