ᐅ A man is planning a bathroom—can this turn out well?

My two bathrooms are "basically" already planned.

However, while walking through the construction site, some fresh ideas came up.

At the moment, I still have quite a bit of freedom to redesign, although walls, doors, and some small details are naturally already fixed.

Here is the ground floor bathroom (for personal use) as I have planned it:

Floor plan of a ground floor bathroom: bathtub, washbasin, toilet, and door

The position of the shower is already fixed, or rather the full-height pre-wall element, since wastewater and the mechanical ventilation system for indoor air have to run from above through it. The shower is to be enclosed on three sides by about 2m (6.5 feet) high glass panels, approximately 130-140cm (51-55 inches) deep, without a door or curtain.

My wish for a freestanding bathtub hasn’t yet been graphically implemented in a way I find visually appealing. But then the idea came up to place the washbasin on a T-shaped element next to the toilet and position the bathtub diagonally in the corner on the right. Problem: It could get a bit tight next to the toilet, or you might be partially blocking the doorway while standing at the washbasin. Does anyone have a better idea? My desired bathtub (haven’t tried sitting in it yet) would be a real eye-catcher like, for example, this one

Modern golden freestanding bathtub with black fittings in a bright bathroom.

Elongated bathtub with inner basin; top and side views with dimensions in mm.

One reason: I would probably enjoy the look every time I enter the bathroom. And it would surely create a wow effect for guests (I don’t have a separate guest toilet). And if others enjoy it, so do I 😎

But I’m still a bit nervous about committing to one like this. Just for your information: A bathtub is essential for me (also for medical reasons).

@ypg Hardly possible to step on my toes with such things :p

The picture gave me an idea: Install the faucet on the utility room wall, then have the shower rail go around the corner (possibly with a rain showerhead). This way, I wouldn’t need a pre-wall installation unit.

I don’t actually have a collection of shampoos, just a single one ;-)
Instead, I could imagine getting a visually appealing dispenser and refilling it occasionally.

A very slight slope on the shelf to allow water to drain off, but not so steep that items placed there would slide off, would be ideal.

At the moment, I am neither emotionally capable nor willing to accommodate a female roommate, even temporarily, with her own shampoos 😎

You can place the faucet according to the plan at the bottom left corner and then install the showerhead with a rail on the left wall.
That’s exactly what I’m saying 😉

Haha... that’s what I’m saying 😀
One for everything, you can’t mix it up!
The shampoo could still be stored somewhere else or dispensed from a wall-mounted dispenser.

Well, I had that, and it’s absolutely no problem. Currently, I have all-glass, and I find it uncomfortable with floor-to-ceiling glass because of wiping. At least in my opinion, it doesn’t look any less stylish.

Don’t worry—that’s what you’d call “normal”—and that’s also why we will have two bathrooms in the future.

Yes, here too I’m definitely in favor of brown and against gray with gold.
I’m really looking forward to the bathtub. Hopefully, we’ll get photos of the actual model when the time comes? 🙂
I think it’s cool!

Zapp, if you have trouble kneeling, a cleaning service is the best option. Tiles need to be cleaned and wiped down from time to time after all. You don’t have to do it yourself if it gets too difficult.
I ordered the bathtub yesterday since the delivery time is somewhere between 4 and 8 weeks. I didn’t want to risk any delays in installation.
As soon as it arrives, I’ll share “real” pictures, of course also when the bathroom is finished showing the final result.

The shower trays (made of artificial stone) are at least almost white.

Regarding the color choices for tiles and wall paint, I’ll consult my family, the tiler, and the painting contractor I trust.
