ᐅ Malm dresser leaning forward – how can I adjust or level it?

Hello everyone, I have an IKEA Malm dresser that is causing me some trouble: the dresser is leaning forward, meaning the front edge seems to tilt down slightly, so the dresser no longer stands flat overall. This makes opening the drawers more difficult and doesn’t look good either. Does anyone know this problem? What could be the reasons behind it, and how can I get the dresser back to a stable, level position? I have already tried securing it to the wall, but that only helps to a limited extent. Are there any tips for adjusting or fine-tuning it to fix this leaning issue?

If you haven’t done so yet, I’d also recommend completely emptying the dresser temporarily and re-leveling it. Use a spirit level on both the top surface and along the sides.

For adjusting under the furniture, you can use either self-adhesive furniture feet with glide protection or furniture wedges. IKEA itself offers replacement parts that can help compensate for small height differences.

If the dresser tips forward, the attachment of the back panel can also be crucial. Sometimes only cardboard is used, which isn’t very stable. Adding an additional support board screwed to the back can make a big difference.

Patience when readjusting definitely pays off. :-)

Short and practical: place furniture wedges under the front rail, tighten all screws on the back panel, and then it will fit.
