Hej,
the thing is 177cm (70 inches) wide, ideal for a 160cm (63 inches) bed, but also okay for a 180cm (71 inches) bed, right?
You pull out the storage compartments to the sides, so there are only a few centimeters left on the sides, hmm...
Or maybe you could replace the top shelf with a LACK shelf 190cm (75 inches)...? Hmm...
Oh no, that is only 26cm (10 inches) deep and Malm 31cm (12 inches)... hmm...
No idea, sorry 😉

Hi chicki,
there are dimensions in your answer that I hadn’t fully realized before. So your reply is actually very helpful for us... Also, we currently live more than 150km (93 miles) away from the nearest IKEA. Our Swedish home won’t open until June 😀
Do you happen to know the width of the headboard for the 180cm (71 inches) bed? Since 180cm is the width of the sleeping surface, the headboard shouldn’t be much wider, right?!
Best regards,
Andreas

Do you happen to know the width of the headboard for the 180cm (70.9 inches) bed? Since 180cm (70.9 inches) is the width of the sleeping area, the headboard shouldn’t be much wider, right?! 196cm (77.2 inches).
Maybe you could also check the IKEA website yourself.
They provide precise measurements for almost all furniture items.
Have fun!
groetjes,

hey,
the Swedes have arrived here, so we immediately bought the Malm bed (180x200cm (71x79 inches)) with the 160cm (63 inches) headboard.
Conclusion: it actually doesn’t look that bad...
BUT. In all the excitement, we didn’t realize that the Pax frame doesn’t come in the color of our Malm bed. We chose this medium brown because the dark brown for Malm would actually have to be called black, as it probably contains only microscopic traces of brown. And the medium brown looks really awful in the IKEA showroom, but at home, under “normal” lighting, it fits.
One more note: the sleeping surface of the Malm bed (180x200cm (71x79 inches)) is actually 181cm (71 inches) wide in reality, at least for me. Since I’m a saver, I bought the slatted bed bases and mattresses at Aldi. Unfortunately, the bed bases and mattresses from Aldi are not really 90cm (35 inches) wide, but just under 89cm (35 inches). So now I always fall into the 4cm (1.5 inches) gap when I roll over to my loved one... 😉
So far, so good. I’ll start a new thread for the Pax purchase because I have many questions there.
Cheers
