Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Ikea Metod drawers. They close properly, but often make unpleasant, sometimes loud noises when closing and the movement isn’t very smooth. I would like to use simple and inexpensive methods to make the drawer closing both quieter and smoother without upgrading to complex or expensive dampers. Does anyone have tips or experience with easy-to-install solutions that can achieve this? I would appreciate practical ideas that work with minimal effort and preferably without special tools.

You can stick self-adhesive felt or rubber strips inside the cabinet where the drawer rests. This cushions the impact and reduces noise quite effectively.

I would recommend checking the drawer slides and lubricating them if necessary. A bit of silicone spray or dry lubricant can work wonders to help the drawers glide more smoothly and close more quietly. Additionally, soft bumpers made of silicone or foam reduce the impact when closing.

Take a look at the plastic guides. If they are worn or dry, they can cause noise. Lubrication and felt strips usually help.

Great that you brought up this topic! I installed small silicone stoppers in my drawers, and it immediately eliminated the noise! Plus, the drawers now slide much more smoothly. Just give it a try and don’t get discouraged—it really makes a big difference!

To improve the smooth operation of Ikea Metod drawers, I recommend the following steps: - Check the drawer slides for dirt and wear, and clean and lubricate them if necessary - Use self-adhesive felt or rubber pads at the points where the drawer contacts the cabinet to dampen impact noise - If needed, install silicone or plastic bumpers as stops to reduce noise - Avoid overloading the drawers, as this can affect the closing mechanism These measures are durable and do not lead to expensive follow-up costs.
