ᐅ Building a Freestanding Parcel Mailbox?

We are looking for a freestanding parcel mailbox – one of those where the delivery person can drop off packages and that has an additional compartment on top for regular mail.

We would also like a system where packages can be deposited from above by any delivery person (airlock system) rather than one with a lock that only allows the first delivery person to unload, after which the parcel compartment is locked (or if the delivery person doesn’t lock it, then anyone can access it).

Since we won’t have a fence and this box should be delivery person–friendly and accessible from the street, it needs to be freestanding.

Has anyone had experience with such a mailbox? Which manufacturer would you recommend? Because it will be placed by the street without any shelter, it must be weatherproof and not rust easily. Appearance: modern, please no cute or old-fashioned styles reminiscent of the turn of the last century or similar.

Not multiple boxes, but several compartments. This way, you can receive several packages of different sizes. As you correctly mentioned, Renz only has lock systems. But with a lockable compartment, the mypaketkasten might be an option for you.

Hello,
Frabox offers the Namur parcel box, which features an airlock system.

Best regards,

I have already found the Namur, but unfortunately it doesn’t come with a mailbox, and I didn’t want to have two separate parts.

The Mypaketkasten is nice, but we don’t really need the extra storage compartment at the bottom for large packages, and the price is quite high—well, compared to the overall cost of the house, it’s less of an issue.

I have now given a delivery authorization for the electronically locked garage.

That’s how I did it too. With the code from the delivery authorization, the courier opens the garage door a little. The door then closes automatically after a certain time. The parcel lockers didn’t seem very practical to me. Some require a sort of subscription or can’t be used by all delivery services. Or they’re too small or too expensive.

Letters can also be dropped into the large flap.

They just end up placed together with the packages.

You can get those directly from DHL. The large, nice ones cost about 500€ (around $540).

EDIT: Don’t do it!!! The reviews for parcel mailboxes are disastrous. Unfortunately, mail carriers tend to ignore these mailboxes, as I just read. It’s nothing but a beautiful theory. Complaints to DHL apparently don’t help either.

Too bad, I wanted one of those too...
