Hello,
I have a big problem.
About 6 weeks ago, I bought a Bjursta display cabinet.
I wanted to place the cabinet in a niche in my new apartment, but it turns out it’s too large. The cabinet is still in its original packaging, and the boxes are undamaged. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt during the move and can’t find it anywhere. I usually keep all my receipts, but of course, I can’t find the one I actually need now 🙁
I can’t use the cabinet anymore, so I want to return it. I have already been to IKEA, but they refuse to accept the return without a receipt! I paid in cash and without an IKEA Family card, so they can’t verify whether I even paid for the cabinet. How am I supposed to sneak the cabinet past the checkout?!?
I don’t want to sell it on eBay or similar because I wouldn’t get anywhere near what I paid, and as everyone knows, moving costs a lot of money 😕

Does anyone have a receipt for a Bjursta display cabinet in black-brown for 259 euros?

I’m also willing to pay for it; I would be so grateful if someone could help me 🙂
Oh, and the receipt should not be older than 3 months, to avoid any problems 😉

Thanks in advance!

We have discussed this topic here before.

You won’t have much luck getting a receipt. Think carefully about when you bought the cabinet and how much you paid for it.
Is the cabinet still in its original packaging? Some stores, including IKEA, may accept returns in exchange for a voucher, with the only deduction being the lowest price in the past six months.
Better that than nothing...

Hello and thank you for your reply.
During the moving period, I visited IKEA very often, so I can’t say exactly when it was, but it must have been about 6 to 8 weeks ago.
I already went to IKEA with the display cabinet, but they completely refused to cooperate and simply wouldn’t agree. The problem is that I drive about 110 km (70 miles) each way to IKEA. I already checked online, and the display cabinet was apparently on offer about 3 or 4 months ago for family members at 99 euros! But I definitely paid 259 euros! I don’t want to drive to IKEA again just to get 99 euros, if that even happens.
I would be more than happy with a voucher, as long as I get the full amount credited back to me.

Maybe someone can help me with a receipt??? 😕

Maybe someone can help me with a receipt after all??? 😕

This is still attempted fraud.

Why accuse fraud? 😱
I paid 259 euros and unfortunately lost my receipt. I'm not doing anything wrong with that.
It's my honestly paid display cabinet.

Hello Jägerundsammlerin,

You won’t have any luck at IKEA, only a 99.00 € (about $107) voucher as a goodwill gesture. You won’t be able to change that.

What I wrote before is the only thing that might help you:

Purchase date and purchase amount.

Why is it considered fraud?

Let’s take an example:

I go to IKEA and steal a rug worth 199.00 € (about $215) (for example, the Koldby cowhide). Then I go back to IKEA and say I lost my receipt. Should I get 199.00 € (about $215) in return?

That would be theft. That’s how IKEA operates. IKEA can refuse returns without a receipt if the reason is simply dissatisfaction.

Another example:

I buy the cowhide at IKEA Hamburg during a holiday trip in the north. In Hamburg, it costs 99.00 € (about $107) on a special offer (Family day offer). When I’m back home, I see it costs 199.00 € (about $215) locally. So can I just go back and get a 199 € (about $215) voucher without a receipt?

That would be fraud. That’s how IKEA handles this.

You are welcome to complain to those customers who have exploited this loophole and forced IKEA to take these measures. If all customers were honest, things would be much simpler.

I hope this clarifies the issue better now.
