FrankChief2 Dec 2022 07:05Hello,
I am looking for suitable "smart" radiator thermostats for some acquaintances.
The thermostats do not need to have many features.
They want to do the following with them:
Set a desired temperature, and the thermostat handles the rest.
Window open detection.
Optional scheduling (if not available, that’s also fine).
Possibility to add window sensors later that can communicate with the thermostats (also not mandatory).
They only need two units and currently do not have any other smart home devices, nor do they plan to.
Many thermostats require a bridge, which seems excessive for just two units, so they would prefer Wi-Fi-enabled ones.
Can you recommend a few options that might be suitable?

The window sensors are optional (in case they decide to use some after all). For now, the thermostats should operate without window sensors.
Therefore, they should also be able to independently detect an open window (without window sensors).
Are there any others you would recommend?
What do you think about the Hama thermostats? (I believe they also require a hub.) But if they are good and the hub is included without making the thermostats or the package significantly more expensive than others, that would be acceptable.
Does anyone know the Comet WiFi from Eurotronic?
The following points should also be considered:
- Operable only via the app (of course, weekly schedules and such are managed through the app, but the temperature should be adjustable directly on the thermostats)
- Suitable for older people without deep technical knowledge
- Definitely no subscription required
Does anyone know how the Eve Thermo works with Google?
Can they be integrated easily (after the Matter update), or do you still need a hub or Thread border router?

Honeywell HR30
We have been using these on 8 radiators for 8 years. Not a single one has failed; they just work. However, apart from programming on the thermostat, they are not smart. The only feature they have is detecting open windows by temperature drop.
The successor, HR30+ Comfort, has however increased in price this year from €30 (approx. $32) each to €70 (approx. $75) each...

and the Honeywell ones are not visually appealing either
if possible, they should be relatively simple
