ᐅ Looking for Assembly Tips for Ikea Metod Base Cabinets

Hello everyone,

I am currently planning an IKEA kitchen and have three questions regarding Metod base cabinets:

1. Can the base cabinets be installed solely on Metod legs, or is wall mounting mandatory (for example, using the IKEA mounting rail)? This is especially a challenge because one cabinet will be located directly in front of a tiled backsplash, while the others have to be placed in front of a type of drywall partition (the tiled backsplash only covers the area from 800mm (31.5 inches) upwards).

2. What is the depth of the standard base cabinets? Can I use countertops with a depth of 600mm (24 inches)? (IKEA uses countertops that are 635mm (25 inches) deep.)

3. I want to install three IKEA units (drawer cabinet, sink cabinet, cabinet for built-in oven) along with a dishwasher (XXL size with Vario hinge). Is there a specific order in which these should be arranged?

Thank you for your help.

What forces the stove outward?

Lack of space: I have no more than 240 cm (94 inches).
The planned arrangement (from left to right):
1. Drawer cabinet
2. Sink cabinet (fixed due to water connection!)
3. Dishwasher (cannot be placed at the edge because of the built-in design, and also not suitable for position 1 due to limited space when opening the door)
4. Stove

After that, there is a door...

The dishwasher and stove could be swapped if an additional support panel were installed next to the dishwasher. However, since attaching an extra wooden strip to the countertop is already too complicated, this option is probably out of the question.

You could also use base cabinets that are 40cm deep (16 inches) behind the door. Attaching a strip has a very good cost-benefit ratio. However, I suspect that 3-meter (10-foot) long glued laminated timber boards from the hardware store might not look very good either.

@ Bianca13:
I have no idea how far you have gotten by now.
But I also had the idea of using the DIY store panel (mainly for logistical reasons), however, if you deviate from the standard panel depth (which is 60cm (24 inches)), it gets extremely expensive.
At least that was the case here; I almost had a panic attack.

It's similar here; I’ve now got a 300 x 60 x 2.8 cm (118 x 24 x 1.1 inch) laminated wood panel in "Acacia." I will try to screw a strip about 1.5 cm (0.6 inch) thick along the edge and then hide everything under this fixing strip. If that doesn't work, it will need to be extended further, or a proper wooden trim strip will be needed as a wall finishing strip.
