Hello everyone,
We are looking for a solid wood dining table about 240cm (95 inches) long to comfortably seat 10 people.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

We are thinking of oak for the color. We really like an X-shaped black frame for the base.

Best regards and thanks

Update: We have now contacted a local carpenter, and the initial discussion went well. We will meet in the next few days to discuss the details.

We are still a bit unsure about the length. For the few times a year when you actually have 10 people, is it really worth going larger than 240cm (94 inches)?

At 60cm (24 inches) per person, you can fit 4 chairs on each side and 2 at the ends. It’s not exactly comfortable, but it should work.

Building it yourself would definitely be interesting, but right now I don’t have the time, and I also lack experience with woodwork.

Not really. As mentioned before, these tables are usually about 1 meter deep (3 feet); if you seat someone at the head, that person will use the same space as the two people on the longer sides.

Blue rectangle made of building blocks, red pillars on both sides, green beam in the middle.

As an update: We have had the solid oak dining table, 270cm (106 inches) and 105cm (41 inches) wide, in our dining room for a few days now.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures on my phone at the moment...

We can squeeze 14 chairs around the table. The 10 chairs we planned for are absolutely no problem.

I just made one of ours (Venjakob) – maybe @ntsa86 is also looking for a width of 100cm (40 inches) and length of 190cm (75 inches) or 290cm (114 inches). The table legs are always positioned at the corners and do not get in the way.
