We have now been happy with our new house for 2 years. There are still a few small things to be done here and there, of course. But one thing is really frustrating. We just can’t find a lamp for the kitchen that we like.
Our requirements are not exactly simple either. We need a ceiling lamp with a brightness equivalent to about 150 W incandescent bulbs. Both of us have poor vision in the dark. That’s almost a deal-breaker. Well, besides that, our taste also seems to be quite difficult. Does anyone know good online retailers that don’t just offer the usual cheap stuff from places like OBI?

Hello,
I will take a look at the catalog. Thank you very much!
We’re not really keen on cable systems. We definitely won’t be suspending the ceiling. Otherwise, we would have planned it before completion.
But wow, some of the prices are crazy! 1000 euros is almost standard for just three wires and a bit of glass around them. They must be out of their minds, right? And then all those LEDs everywhere – I don’t like them at all!

Hello, and then there are these LEDs everywhere – I really don’t like them! These LEDs, LED downlights, or LED bulbs are actually quite bright, cast minimal shadows, and are energy-efficient. Since I have severe visual impairment (almost blind), I need very good lighting and spent a long time researching different options.
Now, all living areas in our home have LED lighting, partly also warm white LED bulbs in standard lamp sockets and lampshades, equivalent to 150W.
However, it took me a while and very good advice, partly even at our home, to overcome my dislike of LEDs.
Hello!
I have now replaced almost all the incandescent bulbs and halogen spots in our home with corresponding LED lamps. Especially with the LEDs that replaced the halogen bulbs, you can no longer see any color difference compared to the halogen lamps. The days when LEDs inevitably produced cold white light are long gone. Nowadays, they are even available in dimmable versions.
Best regards,
Andreas

I actually know quite a few online stores that offer more design and quality rather than cheap junk, specifically discontinued models.
I have been looking myself for 2 years for wall lamps with adjustable arms to use as reading lamps in the bedroom.
If you send me your email address, I will send you my list, which I update regularly.
However, you should actually describe your living style first 🙂
