ᐅ Looking for a light fixture for our kitchen

We have now been happy with our new house for 2 years. There are still a few small things to be done here and there, of course. But one thing is really frustrating. We just can’t find a lamp for the kitchen that we like.

Our requirements are not exactly simple either. We need a ceiling lamp with a brightness equivalent to about 150 W incandescent bulbs. Both of us have poor vision in the dark. That’s almost a deal-breaker. Well, besides that, our taste also seems to be quite difficult. Does anyone know good online retailers that don’t just offer the usual cheap stuff from places like OBI?

...Is it also possible to lower the ceiling (drywall construction, around €600 including filling and painting should be sufficient for about 12m² (130ft²)) and install 12V recessed spotlights? That way, you get even lighting in all corners. The spotlights may also be dimmable and adjustable. This is a first step work, but over the years...

...oh yes, the ceiling will only be about 12cm (5 inches) lower.

...so this is how we did it, but there are definitely many other possibilities 😉
