Hello,

we are looking for suitable cabinets for our utility room (Hauswirtschaftsraum) in the basement.

What we have already found:

Laundry tower (brand: Waschturm) – the washing machine and dryer are positioned side by side on an elevated platform, and directly below there is a small drawer to place the laundry basket.

What we are looking for:

We want to install a sink directly next to the washing machine and connect it to the washing machine’s water supply and drainage.

Right next to it (or integrated into one cabinet or cabinet system) there should be a work surface.

On another wall, larger cabinets should be installed for storage.

Which cabinets can you recommend that are affordable (since they will be in the basement) and include the function with the sink?

A small tip: if you skip the dryer and hang your clothes to dry... you can fold them right after taking them down. It’s easier to finally get up and do it that way 😉

This has nothing to do with motivation. Towels, for example, are simply more comfortable straight out of the dryer.

It was more about overcoming the habit of folding clothes right away. With a dryer, it's of course more convenient to just quickly take the laundry out and leave it in a pile. But if you’re already holding each piece, you might as well fold it immediately, and with a drying rack you also have a suitable surface right in front of you 😉

And yes, towels feel nicer from the dryer for the first two uses. But I have lived without a dryer for 15 years and don’t really miss anything.

@ypg. What do you mean by modular?

You know the cabinets will only be installed in the basement, right?

We want to have a run of cabinets in the basement where the sink is integrated (it needs to be right next to the washing machine because of the water connections).

We want to place our SodaStream in the basement, connected to a 10 kg (22 lbs) CO2 cylinder.

We don’t have space for the SodaStream or especially the 10 kg (22 lbs) gas cylinder in the kitchen.

The kitchenette doesn’t need to be expensive or look top quality since it’s only in the basement.

Yes, you wrote that.

Yes, exactly…

… that’s why you shouldn’t just think of a sink cabinet alone, but integrated in a continuous run. Ikea offers several kitchen cabinets that can be combined with each other. Then you put a countertop on top. This is what is called modules, or modular.
Even a basement can and should be comfortable with affordable furniture.

Which Ikea series would you recommend that is good and affordable?

Knoxhult is probably the right choice, isn't it?

Which modular kitchens are very affordable and offer a good selection?

That way, we can choose exactly the parts we need.
For example, we only need cabinets and no cutouts for appliances.
