Hello everyone,

we are planning to build next year, but it could also be sooner. We have now agreed on the location. We still need to negotiate the plot with the municipality.

I wanted a log cabin style house for a long time. She prefers a typical Swedish-style house.

For me, her style has too little visible wood / for her, mine has too much visible wood.
Now there are timber houses that offer a good balance between the two. So-called solid wood construction. Stommel Haus is probably one such company.

My first question: Who knows a reasonably affordable company that offers something like this? 1700€/sqm (turnkey) is unfortunately too expensive for us.

We are looking for timber houses where you can see wood but not too much 🙂 up to about 1200€/sqm (turnkey).

Thanks for the initial help.

At €1200 per square meter (approximately $110 per square foot) for a turnkey build, you might want to take a look in Sweden... I don't think you can manage that here in Germany.

Okay, are there any prefab house providers who build like that?

So my prefab house company will attach everything on the exterior of the house for a fee. I have seen pictures of houses in the Allgäu region that have received the typical wooden cladding common there.

However, your budget expectations don’t match my supplier at all.
We’re easily looking at 1700 €/m² (160 sq ft) excluding additional construction costs.
