Hello everyone,
So far, as a silent observer, I have been able to get some good tips from you... now that things are becoming more concrete for us, we basically have a question at the start about the positioning of the house on our plot.
First, I will try to answer as many questions as possible:
Development plan / restrictions
Plot size: 656 m² (7,060 sq ft)
Slope: yes (~ 2 meters (6.5 feet))
Building window, building line and boundary: 2.5 meters (8 feet) distance from the boundary
Parking spaces: double garage planned + additional parking space
Number of floors: 1.5
Roof style: gable with 35 degrees
Orientation: south
Maximum height / limits: single-family house 460.25 m (1,509 ft), although we would probably aim for 460 m (1,509 ft) to reduce the amount of fill
The house has external dimensions of 9.75 x 8.75 meters (32 x 29 feet).
On the plan, north is at the top and we are supposed to position the house as far north as possible (minimum 2.5 meters (8 feet) from the boundary). Since the plot slopes down towards the east, we would position the house (without a basement) relatively far to the west. Furthermore, we thought of placing the garage on the east side of the house with a driveway of about 5 meters (16 feet).
Now our questions about this:
1. Any general alternative ideas?
2. Would you align the garage with the house so that garage and house stand parallel, or place it directly at the property boundary? If we align the house with the street and the garage with the angled property boundary, the garage might look like it does not belong to the house.
3. The single-family house is at 460.25 m, but we could go down to 460 m... this could reduce the need for fill of up to 1 meter (3 feet). What is your opinion on that?
4. The house would then stand at 460 m and the garage at about 458 m. How would you shape the area between garage and house? A slope?
5. Would you divide the garden? Meaning extending the separation with a slope, for example between garage and house all the way to the south? Also to minimize soil fill and excavation? The planned garage could be filled up sideways with up to 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) of soil without any problem.
Best regards and thanks in advance to everyone

How much traffic is there on the roads? If the plan is oriented to true north, you don’t have a west-facing terrace? But the windows are very close to the street...
What I also don’t understand: do you already have a floor plan or not? The dimensions of a house usually result from the interior layout. Trying to approach it the other way around (starting with the external dimensions and then positioning the rooms inside) usually works poorly or not at all.

There is almost no traffic on the streets... the new development has about 20 houses and is located on a 30 km/h (20 mph) ring road with only one access point.
Exactly – the plan is oriented to the north, and unfortunately with this layout, we do not have a west-facing terrace.
We do have a floor plan – yes.
Roughly, it looks like this:
In a slight L-shape: living/dining room and kitchen facing south, and the "small" L extending west with the kitchen.
To the north are the entrance, utility room, and study.
