Hello everyone,

We have purchased a house and are now in the planning phase. We want to make fundamental changes and enlarge the rooms, but we are facing the problem that we are not completely sure if the walls we want to remove are load-bearing or not. We are especially uncertain about the mansard hip roof.

To give everyone an idea of the situation, I am attaching some files to visualize the circumstances. I hope we can get some help here.

Thank you in advance.

Yes, sorry, there was indeed a structural engineer involved, and they will have something ready for me by the end of the week. However, if there are any others with experience, I would still like to hear from them.

Yes, a structural engineer ... you can’t do without one, or at least you shouldn’t. However, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the structural engineer. In our case, the company that made the opening examined it closely to determine whether the wall was load-bearing or not – it worked for one wall, but for the other wall, we had to come up with a Plan B.
