At the moment, we have planned it to be 3.85m by 4.50m (12.6 ft by 14.8 ft). There is a 2m (6.6 ft) sliding door planned towards the dining room. My partner thinks the living room is too small, but I find it acceptable. In return, we have a large, spacious dining area. What are your thoughts specifically on the size of the living room?
Thank you
Thank you

HilfeHilfe26 Mar 2015 21:49Hello
For us, the living room is the main focus. We have an open-plan living and kitchen area of about 40 m² (430 sq ft), with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the terrace/garden. Our little one has a play corner there.
Everything revolves around the living room...
I can understand your friend!

nordanney26 Mar 2015 22:31As a dedicated living room, I find it quite small. Where do you spend most of your time? I personally find open spaces more pleasant, as they can visually create a sense of spaciousness.
The question, of course, is how much space do you actually have to plan with?

michisa8688826 Mar 2015 22:45Thanks first of all for your answers. If we add up cooking, eating, and living, we come to over 50m² (540 sq ft). In the living room, which we want to partially separate (hence the sliding door), there will only be a large sofa and a small entertainment unit with the TV mounted on the wall. So in terms of size, I could live with that.
I think that’s quite small. How many doors are there besides the sliding door? Patio door, door to the hallway?
Our living area alone is about the same size, but it’s open to the dining room, and if I imagine adding a wall there, it would already feel quite cramped.
What about children? They also like to play in the living room.
Why do you want to separate the living area?
