Hello everyone, we recently purchased a house and are currently considering how to redesign the living room to create more space by combining the bedroom and utility room into one area, as this will later be used as an office with about 10-12m² (108-129 sq ft).
At the very end, I will, of course, attach the floor plan.
The plan is to create an opening from the living room towards the bedroom. However, the bedroom will not be fully used but connected to the utility room through another opening between these two rooms.
Between the bedroom and living room, there will be a drywall partition at the same height as the utility room wall to ensure it looks visually coherent.
The couch is supposed to go into the approximately 2-meter (6.5 feet) freed-up space. It is 3 meters (10 feet) wide. Now, my problem is that on both sides there must be a base about 25cm (10 inches) high for the steel beam, and these two bases would be exactly at the height of the couch and TV.
Do you perhaps have a great idea for this?
I would appreciate any suggestions.

I would like to place the couch like this, not freestanding in the room, and put the TV on the newly built drywall partition. Between the living area and kitchen/dining space, there will be a fireplace, which should also be visible from the couch. I have marked everything in the drawing. The door on the slanted wall will be removed or closed off, but this shouldn’t affect the question about the opening.

Ok, and thanks @hanghaus2023.
Either you find as flat a solution as possible and accept the wall distance, or perhaps it could also be an option to place a half-height, lightweight wall for the TV (possibly made of wood or another attractive material) or a modular shelving system similar to a sideboard in the middle of the room, roughly below the numbers "28.49". Then you would mount the TV on that back wall. This way, you still have passageways on the left and right, some separation, and you face the dining area, which you probably want to extend more in the direction of the window, right?
I would probably align that flush with the window.

Oh, I really like the idea of using the TV wall as a room divider; I hadn’t considered that before. Thanks for the suggestion.
It would be flush with the current dining room window, and possibly include a small one in the newly created living room area as well, so that the corner around the TV wall room divider doesn’t feel too dark.
