We built our house four years ago, but unfortunately, we didn’t consider our living area well enough. Now we’re stuck and don’t know what to do. The wall color and the placement of the sofa (Sofacompany Dane 2.85m x 2.85m (9.35 ft x 9.35 ft)) are giving us headaches. Maybe you have a bright idea for arranging this space.

Who are we? A family of five.

You probably meant: "Either you have a TV or you don’t. You can turn it on as well." 😀

We currently have three, and I’m saving up for number 4. I had a dedicated power outlet and LAN port installed in the bathroom above the bathtub to make the full bathroom less boring.

I managed to just prevent a TV being installed in the bathroom, but the connection was secretly added after some discreet talks between my husband and the electrician. The two gentlemen seem to think I can’t tell a TV socket from a regular power outlet. ;-)

Haha, good guy for having the same idea as me, but not so great that he underestimates his wife...

Mount the TV at a height that allows a sofa to fit underneath. This way, you can create a cozy, spacious seating area in the living room. Right now, the TV looks like it belongs in a trade show booth...

Also, I think your plants are too small. A large, wide indoor plant can also serve as a nice room divider. Ours has grown so big that you can't even see the sofa anymore 🤨

It doesn’t really matter what others have. You choose the size you want or what fits the room.
Some have a 15 m² (160 sq ft) living room, others 50...60 m² (540–650 sq ft).

Surprisingly, the TV position and size weren’t that difficult.
The problem was the speaker system in the open-plan living area.
There’s a huge difference between just listening to the news in the living, dining, and kitchen areas,
a home theater experience, and a rock concert level.
Our old system (just enough to bring along) was simply overwhelmed and didn’t deliver any real sound.
Our TV is also placed between the windows, and the view from the lounge corner faces the garden or the TV.

In this case, the sofa is isosceles… I wouldn’t squeeze it into the corner either. So, maybe one side along the interior wall, and the other side separating the room would be a good balance.

This is how it looks in our home. The 3-seater sofa is placed with the backrest facing the dining area...
