Hello everyone,
I have already searched extensively in this forum but unfortunately haven’t found anything suitable.
The plot has a slight slope from the street, but after that, the land is level. Since it faces south, we would like to make use of the relatively large meadow and use our terrace on the lower ground floor as the main living area. That is why we want the living room, dining area, and kitchen on the lower ground floor. The front door is usually at the same level as the street, so on the ground floor. This means you would enter the house and then immediately go down the stairs. I haven’t seen that layout anywhere before. Also, we are wondering whether we should build two or three stories. Another question is how it will be later in life, when we are older, the children have left home, and we might have difficulty using the stairs. Has anyone been in a similar situation or does anyone have ideas on how to implement this sensibly? We are currently a family of four. Possibly there will be a fifth member.
We want to gather options to see what we would like best.

I would find it inconvenient to have to go up and down two floors every time to get from the bedroom to the living room. I can more easily imagine placing the children's rooms under the roof. In my opinion, it’s best to have as few stairs as possible and therefore build only two floors.
I really like the idea of placing the living area downstairs facing the garden!

Yes, I believe 1.5 stories are possible. I misspoke earlier. Thank you for your input.
We have also considered whether it would be easier to have the entrance door on the basement level. It is quite common to have to go down some stairs first before reaching the entrance door—walking along the house and then entering at the lower level.
Dividing everything between the basement, ground floor, and upper floor would certainly be an option. I think we would plan it so that the upper floor could potentially be converted into a separate apartment, or at least have the preparations done for that. I will now look into some room layouts; maybe we will find an interesting arrangement. In the end, a professional will have to handle it anyway.
Thank you all.

What are you allowed to do? Depending on the reference height, the house in the example image might only have one full storey. The basement and the ground floor appear to be full storeys, but the attic with its roof structure does not.

It is quite conceivable that a child might move into the attic or, when all children have moved out and someone wants to continue living there, the attic could be rented out. In that case, there should be at least one bathroom and a separate entrance. Even if that ends up being just a simple door inside that functions as the entrance door. I want to keep all options open.
