Hello everyone,

Our precast concrete slabs will be delivered in the next few weeks, and we have the option to install recessed LED downlights in the ceilings.

I have marked the LED downlights in yellow on our plans.

Do you have any suggestions to improve my lighting layout?

Thank you in advance

A quick question for the group: I personally find surface-mounted downlights to be a good alternative to recessed downlights. There are many different types available—can anyone recommend some for the hallway and kitchen?

Isn’t it like the difference between a folding ruler and a measuring tape? My supervisor during my first apprenticeship always insisted, “There is no folding ruler in the German tool assortment, only measuring tapes or folding rule tapes.” Unfortunately, no customer ever understood me when I used that term.
And while we’re at it: Is it a screwdriver or a turn screwdriver?
Or a caliper gauge or a vernier caliper?
My supervisor was very strict about these terms and insisted on using the correct ones. No customer ever understood me.

No, that is not correct. Please read my previous posts here again. "Spot" and "recessed downlight" are not synonyms, contrary to the supposed analogies you mentioned.

I find the examples quite good. "Zollstock" is not a synonym but incorrect, as it no longer includes any inch measurements nowadays. However, it is commonly used in everyday language, and very few people know the actually correct terms.
But we are getting off topic.

After all, a folding ruler still refers to a measuring tool for lengths or distances, whereas a spot has absolutely nothing to do with the construction type (built-in, surface-mounted, pendant, etc.). This just seems to be difficult to understand.

Spot also means point or dot. I find that quite fitting for the light spots on the ceiling.
