Hello everyone,

This is our bathroom. It has a total area of 16.88 sq m (182 sq ft) and a walk-in shower measuring 1.20 m (4 ft) wide and 2.30 m (7.5 ft) long.

There will be walls around the front and sides, each 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) high. There won’t be a towel radiator in the shower area. The window is positioned quite high, so frosted glass won’t be necessary.

We would like to lower the ceiling in the shower and install LED spotlights. We are now looking for ideas on the best way to do this so that it still looks good despite the walls. Google and Pinterest haven’t been very helpful. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Daniela

I think a dropped ceiling only over the shower looks odd because you can see it there, as the shower walls themselves don’t reach up to the ceiling. I also don’t think the effort is justified. Install 2-3 recessed spotlights in the concrete ceiling and that’s it. Around 300€. You won’t get it that cheap with a dropped ceiling, unless you do it yourself. But I would reconsider this due to moisture issues.

I also don’t think the effort is justified. Just install 2-3 recessed downlights directly into the concrete ceiling and that’s it. About 300€. You won’t get it cheaper with a dropped ceiling unless you do it yourself.

Thanks for the input. Could you show me what those downlights would look like? I couldn’t find anything online.

Basically, you can use any recessed spotlight with an IP44 rating. These are essentially the same types that you would install in a suspended ceiling, except that they are installed into a mounting can.
