ᐅ LED recessed lights in insulated ceilings – fire safety considerations

titozHello everyone,
I have been puzzling over this for weeks.
We are building a timber house and have wood fiber insulation and a vapor retarder below the roof terrace on the ground floor.
Below that, there is a 6cm (2.4 inch) counter batten, and on top of that, 1cm (0.4 inch) Fermacell.
So, there is a total of 7cm (2.8 inch) from the bottom edge of the Fermacell to the underside of the vapor retarder.
The vapor retarder is tightly stretched, so with some pressure, you can push it down by about 1cm (0.4 inch)... meaning a maximum height of 7-8cm (2.8-3.1 inch).
We plan to install GU10 LED spotlights, but the height including the socket is roughly 7cm (2.8 inch).
Which fire-resistant mounting box (e.g., “Kaiser box”) would I need to avoid a fire hazard in the ceiling?
There are two types: ThermoX LED and ThermoX, with the ThermoX LED marked as "not suitable for NV and HV lamps." Silly question, but what is left then?
Anyway, I would appreciate your opinions and suggestions. How can I install adjustable GU10 LED spots in the ceiling without risking a fire?
Best regards,
Tito

Hello Tito,
we used Kaiser 9300-02 Thermo-X.
Regards,
ChristianHmm, they are 90mm (3.5 inches) deep. That’s too tight for my setup.
Are you using halogen or LED?
We have LED spotlights. At first, I also wanted to use the ones you mentioned, but according to the supplier, they wouldn’t have held up in our installation, and we have similar ceilings. I don’t think you can use those either.
