Hello, over the weekend I saw a daylight spot for the first time at a friend’s house. It’s incredible how much light such a device can bring into a hallway! I’m just wondering about the long-term airtightness (moisture resistance) of these units. In his case, it’s a new build, so he doesn’t have any experience yet. Do you have any experience with them? And could you perhaps share some pictures? Thank you very much!
The product concept of daylight spotlights / light tubes (the possibly protected market names vary) may still be relatively new, but the roof penetration itself is not. Depending on the design, these components have connections similar to roof windows, antennas, or vents. Therefore, I don’t see this as really new territory for roofers, nor for waterproofing manufacturers. I am not aware of any problems or reasons for concern.
