Hello,

I want to run a few cables from the house to the prefabricated garage (excavation work will start soon). For example, power, network, and KNX. On one hand, I’m wondering how to get the cables out of the house (basement) — we are building a KfW40 energy-efficient house — and then how to get them into the garage. Ideally, I would like to use empty conduits.

- At the house: How can the cables be routed out without compromising airtightness and insulation?

- Into the garage: I will be approaching the prefabricated garage underground. How do you get the cables or conduits inside? The prefabricated garage (at least that’s my understanding) is delivered completely finished and placed onto strip foundations.....

I already have that. But I didn’t understand the answer. He suggested drilling a hole between the wall and the slab. Then you can see the cables coming out of the floor, or did I misunderstand something?

Either the cables will pass through the wall or through the slab. Wireless power is difficult. You can choose whichever option looks better to you. Basically, the garage is like a small building itself, so you could also install a standard building entry point.

In our new development, the electrician simply drilled an angled hole with a power drill between the wall and the slab, so it comes out at the bottom of the slab on the outside. Pass the cables through, seal properly, and that’s it.

Afterwards, you can install a cable duct and a small distribution box above it. That would be worthwhile anyway if you want more than just a light switch in the garage.

OK, thanks for that. Do you put the data cables in the same conduit?

Yes, all underground cables, and they are shielded.
