Hello!
I currently have PVC flooring in a hallway (about 2.5 x 3 m (8 x 10 ft)) in an apartment. I want to remove it and replace it with tiles.
I’m thinking about doing it myself. I have watched how it’s done but haven’t done it myself yet. Do you think it’s doable for a beginner at tiling? I’m fairly handy (I’m an electrician), and I have laid laminate flooring and done many other tasks, but tiling is new to me :-) Is it easy to make major mistakes during installation?
I would appreciate any tips 🙂
Thanks!

the most important thing is that the base surface is really level, as tile adhesive cannot compensate for much unevenness.
If your base surface is flat, then laying tiles is not too difficult.
Good luck Kugelgnom

Tiling is not difficult; as mentioned, the substrate is the most important preparation! Then comes the selection of the tiles and finally a very important step – grouting!
Basically, it’s a simple task. Just search online for a guide and give it a try – it might not be as “perfect” as a professional tiler with years of experience, but with a spirit level, straight edge, etc., you’ll achieve a good result!
Quick guide:
Prepare the substrate (depending on what is there)
Apply tile adhesive
“Stick” the tiles
Use spacers
Grout
“Clean up”
Check with a straight edge and spirit level before the adhesive sets! This way, you can easily make corrections without extra effort.
