I don’t exactly have a green thumb and would like to know in which order I should do things.
It’s about existing lawns. This year, they have quite a lot of weeds. Last Sunday, I applied “Compo Weed Killer Perfect.” Now I’m waiting for the weeds to die off, which apparently can take up to 14 days. After that, I plan to scarify. But I’ve read that fertilizer should be applied before scarifying?! I was thinking of doing that afterward since the soil is somewhat exposed after scarifying.
Then I want to spread topsoil on the bare spots or to level the lawn overall. Should I use a rake for this, or is a normal garden rake sufficient to distribute it? Does anyone have experience with the Toom brand topsoil?
After that, I’ll apply new grass seed.
Am I on the right track, or is there more I should consider?
One additional question: The lawn looks kind of dry and straw-like. There is one area where new seed was planted later, and the grass there is nice and soft. I would like to have that same softness across the rest of the lawn. How should I achieve that?
Thanks for your feedback 🙂
