Hello lawn enthusiasts,

It looks like our Alpina lawn tractor is finally giving up. My husband is welding it right now and hopes it will last another season. But we should start looking for a replacement.
We originally bought the Alpina quite cheaply and rather out of necessity. It was immediately available and still within budget. The machine did what it was supposed to, but it broke after just a few years. It is now 9 years old, and I believe it has been welded somewhere every year for the last 4 years. So, it’s not very convincing.

That’s why I’m asking the community for recommendations. Our budget is max. 4,000 Euro. The area is about 2,000 sqm (21,500 sq ft) of lawn.
We are looking again for a ride-on lawn tractor. Please, no discussions about robotic or handheld devices.
I’m looking forward to your experiences and tips.

We have had the Stiga Estate 384 for several years without any problems.

Until a few years ago, I also had to manage a fairly large area—less than 2000 sqm (about 21,500 sq ft) but it felt like there were 1000 shrubs right in the middle.

A front-mounted mower deck is a completely different league.

Hello,
Thank you for the tips, but could you please write out the full names?
What is better for a front-mounted mower?

I had a Stiga Park.

With a front mower deck, you can speed around the bushes full throttle.

It's kind of like parallel parking.

I also preferred mulching.

I had a Husqvarna and now a Cub Cadet. Both are good machines. We have 3000 m² (32,300 sq ft), and I finish mowing in 2 hours. The Cub Cadet is basically the Audi (VW) of MTD (budget brand). The downside of a front mower for me is that they are usually a bit wider. I need to mow some delicate areas in the garden. My Cub Cadet, for example, also has a very small turning radius.

I would recommend buying used; for about 2,000 euros (approximately 2,000 USD), you can get something solid. However, the tractors should be kept in a garage, as they don’t do well being left outside (bodywork).
