I am planning to install a new robot mower (Gardena Sileno Minimo 350m²) and would like to know if the cable layout, as shown in the sketch, is appropriate. The boundary wire is marked in green, and the guide wire in yellow.
Solid green means a 35cm (14 inches) distance from the boundary.
Dashed green means a 30cm (12 inches) distance from the boundary.

  • In particular, I am wondering if the station (yellow box) placed in the narrow strip (2m (6.5 ft)) will cause problems later on?
    • Will I need to send the robot out of there before it starts mowing, or will it be able to find the 1.3m (4.3 ft) narrow passage to the larger lawn by itself?
    • Will a corridor cut be necessary there?
  • Is the guide wire sufficient in the large lawn area?
  • Does the sunshade in the middle (10cm (4 inches) diameter) need to be marked as an island? (It is removable, but will remain in place during summer.)
  • Do I need to send the robot specifically to the area where the guide wire ends? (The passage to that area is only 1.2m (4 feet) wide at its narrowest point.)

Thank you very much for your help!

1) The station within the 2m (6.5 ft) strip is unproblematic; the robot navigates narrow spots on its own – a corridor cut is not specifically required there.
2) The guide wire is sufficient as long as there are no dead ends and it is placed centrally.
3) You don’t need to set up the parasol as an island as long as it really only has a 10cm (4 inch) diameter and is firmly fixed.
4) The robot can also pass through 1.2m (4 ft) wide passages; manual guidance is not necessary.
