Hello,
we want to buy a laundry tower for our utility room where the washing machine and dryer are located.
The washing machine and dryer should stand side by side, elevated (inside a cabinet).
Directly below them, there should be a small drawer that can be pulled out to place the laundry basket on, so you don’t have to bend down constantly when loading and unloading.
There should also be cabinets below and above the washing machine/dryer for storage (although upper cabinets are not a must).
Which laundry tower can you recommend? Does anyone have experience with something like this?
Where is a good place to buy this?
Laundry towers (probably original ones are very expensive) — I have already seen alternatives from xxllutz or poco (I am somewhat skeptical about poco’s quality at first).
The cabinet should of course be stable and not collapse under the weight of the washing machine, and it should not move.
Where else can I find such cabinets? (I haven’t found anything at Ikea.)

I could imagine that this might also work with a Metod refrigerator cabinet. The fixed shelf would be installed at a height that still allows for a tall Maximera drawer underneath. Above that, you could leave about 50-60cm (20-24 inches) of free space for folding, with a narrower shelf or compartment at the very top. With the mounting rail, Metod is quite stable, but it will probably still be noisier than placing it directly on the floor, since the entire cabinet then acts as a resonance body.

Another question: We only have a water supply and drain for the washing machine in the utility room.
Can we tap into and use the water supply and drain for a sink as a retrofit solution?

I can only speak from my experience with a self-built platform; I’m not familiar with Poco’s version. Our washer and dryer stand on a platform 80cm (31.5 inches) high, which is great for loading and unloading. However, when adding detergent at about 160cm (63 inches) height, I have to stand on my tiptoes—unless I’m wearing high heels. It is solidly built from 7cm (2.75 inches) beams with tongue-and-groove wood paneling, yet my dryer still shifts when the washer spins. There is an anti-slip mat underneath. The whole platform actually vibrates and wobbles. This might be due to the way my husband built it—he’s not a carpenter—but the cabinets you showed seem even less sturdy to me.
I would say “try it out,” but given the cost, I hope other users with experience will chime in.
